Product Description

Did you know that California is home to the greatest biological diversity on earth, outside of the tropics? There are over 6,000 native species of plants, 1,000 native species of vertebrate animals, and over 200 major habitat types!

Explore 53 California habitats, from coast ranges to the northwest, from forests to wetlands. Learn about mutualism and pollination from a Joshua Tree, find out why salt marshes are called “nurseries of the ocean,” match up birds to their feeding depth in mudflats, and discover how the fog cycle in a redwood forest works. With habitats organized by both regions and biomes, animations, video clips, and hundreds of photos, Cal Alive! Habitats is a perfect interactive reference for students of any age!

Teachers: Cal Alive! Habitats lets your students explore California’s incredible biodiversity with attention to vocabulary, natural processes, and state science standards.
