Product Description

What makes a healthy environment for humans and for otters?

Explore the physiology, behavior, and habitats of California’s beloved southern sea otter. Find out not only how the otter is adapted to marine life, but also how factors such as habitat decline and human activity affect its chances of a long, healthy life.

Teachers: Provide real-world challenges to your students as they make decisions about the management of coastal resources in the Kelp Forest simulator. What environmental features help sustain a healthy kelp forest, a healthy local ecosystem, a healthy economy, and a healthy otter population?

Topics covered include;

-Marine energy flow and food webs

-Population dynamics

-Mammalian physiology

-Ecosystem feedback systems
